Researchers administered ibutamoren (MK-677), a growth hormone secretagogue popular in performance enhancement, to volunteers and analyzed drug concentrations in hair. A single 10 mg dose produced detectable levels of 1.3 pg/mg in the first centimeter of hair. A subject who consumed 60 capsules over 90 days showed 224 pg/mg across a 4 cm segment. The study established a validated detection range of 0.5–250 pg/mg with a detection limit of 0.1 pg/mg. These findings give anti-doping authorities and forensic scientists a concrete reference framework for interpreting ibutamoren hair test results in legal and sports arbitration contexts.
