Longevity & AgingNew 24-item survey lets older Chinese adults rate their own integrated care outcomes
Integrated care for older adults aims to keep people functioning and independent, but measuring whether it works from the patient's own perspective has been difficult. Researchers at Central South University developed ICOPE-PROM, a patient-reported outcome measure for older Chinese adults receiving integrated care. They drafted a pre-test version from existing literature, refined it with expert consultation, and tested it in 436 older adults across 13 integrated care institutions in China. The final scale has 24 items grouped into three dimensions (physical, psychological, social) and eight subdimensions. Statistical testing showed strong internal consistency and good construct validity, with satisfactory model fit. The tool could help clinicians and care organizations track patient-centered outcomes, though further testing is needed across settings and over time.
