IV NAD+ Infusions Are Popular in Wellness Clinics, but the Human Evidence Remains Thin

Intravenous NAD+ infusions are increasingly sold in wellness clinics as an anti-aging strategy. This narrative review of literature from 2018 to March 2026 asks whether the clinical evidence supports that use. It does not. Human data consist mostly of small uncontrolled studies, observational reports and case reports. Short-term infusions of NAD+ or NMN raise circulating NAD+ and shift some biomarkers of oxidative stress, inflammation and metabolism. A few exploratory reports describe self-reported better sleep and neurologic symptoms. Side effects include nausea, cramping, flushing and chest discomfort, and long-term safety data are absent. Recent large human data also suggest whole-blood NAD+ does not fall with healthy aging alone. The authors conclude the evidence is preliminary and insufficient for routine clinical or wellness use, and they call for randomized controlled trials.
